It also keeps track of your activity, how much you exercise and how much you sleep. While it can give you an estimate of how many calories you burned, it can’t keep track of your heart rate. For reading your heart rate, you’d need the Fitbit Charge HR which has all the same functions but features a built in heart rate monitor as well. The Fitbit Surge is similar, but keeps track of even more activities like yoga and weight-lifting. Unfortunately, it also costs nearly twice as much. None of these Fitbits however, are suitable for swimming as they are not waterproof. The Charge models features a small screen controlled by a button while the Surge features a touchscreen. And of course, the Fitbit synchronizes to your smartphone allowing you to read texts and see incoming calls right on your wrist!
The Garmin Vivoactive is sleeker and more sophisticated looking fitness bracelet with a vivid color display and built-in GPS. Like the Fitbit it keeps track of most of your activities, but unlike the Fitbit it is waterproof so it also keeps track of swimming. Another advantage the Vivoactive has over the Fitbit is that the battery has a longer lifespan: up to three weeks compared to the Fitbit’s battery lifespan of about a week. The downside to the Vivoactive is that its heart rate monitoring capabilities require the use of a chest strap. Like the Fitbit, the Vivoactive synchronizes to your smartphone, but unlike the Fitbit displays all notifications on your smartphone. You can also control your music from the Vivoactive, so you don’t have to mess with your phone while exercising. Additionally, the bands on the Vivoactive are interchangeable and can be switched with silicone bands in your favorite color.
The Mio Fuse is not the most beautiful of fitness bracelets, but its comfortable and gets the job done. The Fuse keeps track of activities throughout the day, even water activities and weightlifting. For running, it tracks pace as distance and time. Heart rate is monitored optically just like with the Fitbit, so you don’t need a chest strap. Unfortunately, it doesn’t keep track of stairs or sleeping, nor does it feature an alarm of any kind. It connects to your smartphone through the Mio Go App. As far as price, its easily the most affordable of the fitness bracelets we’ve mentioned.
